Today I had the great pleasure of attending Christine Brailsford's WHOMP-O-RAMA! I guess you could say it was a sort of get together, try it out, demo and hang for people who love body-surfing, paipos, the ocean, waves, each other and life. Christine has a line of artwork, handplanes and paipos called WHOMP. Her art is incredible. The craft, care and attention to detail in every piece gives a sense of knowledge, skill and artistry. Her wonderfully playful "rodent" characters add a whimsical but hip and fun element to this style of water-sport and as anyone who has ever encountered an angry surfer in the water knows, those elements are often sorely lacking. I had a blast! The vibe was great. The folks were nice. People WHOMPED! If you're ever in the area check out her work at Surfy Surfy or her website. There was also lots of ink around. AWESOME INK! Banjo playing muskrat ink. Fallen and lost family ink. Nautical ink. Although I was only there a short while these are a few of my impressions of the event. I hope that some of you in these pics see yourself and as always any comments are always welcome! MAHALO!!
